When and why did you start training for fighting? I started training in Japanese Jujitsu in February of 2001. I have always had a fascination with martial arts, thanks in part to my dad, who was a Bruce Lee fan. When my first trainer gave me a copy of 'Ultimate Ken Shamrock'. I was mesmerized watching it. That steered me towards MMA, and in September of 2002 I had my first fight.

What ranks and titles have you held? I am the current Warrior's Realm Heavyweight Champion, but I have also held the XFC (Australia) Heavyweight Title and the Kumite (Australia) Heavyweight Title.

Do you have any heroes?  With regards to MMA I have always liked Igor Vovchanchyn; his aggressive and fearless style was great to watch and I found it very inspiring.

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? Fighting in the UFC is the pinnacle of MMA. Thinking about some of the great fighters that have fought for the UFC is a humbling thought. All my training and preparation has culminated to this point, and now I get to test myself in the octagon. The offer to fight in the UFC is a recognition of all the hard work and sacrifice that I have put myself through, and it’s great that its finally paid off.

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? No I did not go to college. But I would like to go to college as a mature age student and get a degree in Human Movement.

What was your job before you started fighting? Prison Officer. I am still a prison officer but I hope to fight fulltime later this year.

Specific accomplishments in amateur competition? International Budo sports Ground fighting World Heavyweight Champion 2003. International Budo Sports Pan Pacific Challenge Super Heavyweight Ground Fighting Champion 2002. International Budo Sports Pan Pacific Challenge Super Heavyweight Vidal Circle Fighting Champion 2002.

Specific accomplishments in pro competition? Warrior's Realm Heavyweight Champion, XFC (Australian) Heavyweight Title,  Kumite (Australian) Heavyweight Title.
