Biographie

TRAINING: I train twice a day, six days a week. I train BJJ three times a week. I train no gi two times a week. I train striking three times a week. I lift weights two times a week. I do sprints once a week.

When and why did you start training for fighting? I started training in 2006 because I saw some old UFC DVDs at my friend's house. To say that, "I was immediately hooked," would be a severe understatement.

What ranks and titles have you held? I am a black belt in BJJ and brown belt in Judo.

Submission of the Year vs Kevin Roddy.

Do you have any heroes? My parents.

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? More than words can explain. I have been eating, sleeping, and breathing my chance to war out in the Octagon since I started along this journey. My main goal in MMA has been to step foot in the cage of the pinnacle of the sport.

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? Bachelor's Degree from the University of Hartford

What was your job before you started fighting? Associate Instructor at a secondary education center

Specific accomplishments in pro competition? Awards I was given were: 2010 Northeast MMA Fight of the Year, 2011 Northeast MMA Fight of the Year, 2016 Northeast MMA Fight of the Year, CES MMA All-Time Most Popular Fighter, 2014 Northeast MMA Upset of the Year vs Diego Nunes, 2014 Northeast MMA Performance of the Year vs Diego Nunes, 2015 Northeast MMA

Favorite grappling technique: Any submission. I don't pick favorites when they've all been so good to me.

Favorite Striking technique: The one that knocks my opponent out

• Pro since 2007

• Seven wins by KO, eight by submission (2 heel hook, 4 guillotine, triangle, RNC)

• Four first round finishes

• Owns 2014 win over UFC / WEC vet Diego Nunes

• Origin of nickname: “The President of the North American Grappling Association (NAGA), Kipp Kollar, bestowed it upon me before my first fight.
