TRAINING: I'm training twice a day at the moment - a mixture of technical training, sparring, pad work, drilling as well as the strength and conditioning work. Usually I train at Next Generation MMA in Liverpool in the mornings, and then I'll do a conditioning session, a Jiu-Jitsu lesson or some drills later in the afternoon or evening.
When and why did you start training for fighting? I first got involved in martial arts when I was about 14, because I was interested in self-defense. I discovered MMA in 2000, and wanted to challenge myself.
What ranks and titles have you held? Cage Warriors Fighting Championship World Title Holder
Do you have any heroes? Not heroes, exactly, though there are many people in the sport who I have a lot of respect for. I don’t want to single out any one in particular.
What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? It’s something I’ve dreamt of since I first got involved in MMA. I never thought it would be possible for me.
Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? Studied @ Cambridge University, mathematics graduate. I also hold a PhD in Theoretical Computer Science and a degree in Osteopathy.
What was your job before you started fighting? I’m also an osteopath.
