TRAINING: I love to train. Fighting is my passion. I have been doing this for 19 years. In October 1996, I had my first MMA fight and 19 years later I am still here. The key is to do what you love and do it with your heart. Even when I don't have a fight scheduled I go to the gym, because this is my work. I am a businessman that goes to his office every day. I have been working hard for this specific fight in all areas (BJJ, wrestling, boxing, Muay Thai, etc.) and I will be ready to fight all five round with all my heart.
When and why did you start training for fighting? I just liked the sport. It is challenging and I like to be challenged.
What ranks and titles have you held? Former UFC light heavyweight champion, UFC heavyweight tournament champion, been ranked top 10 in light heavyweight and middleweight divisions. TUF Brazil coach.
Do you have any heroes? Jesus
What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? It’s an honor. This is where I started and Dana and the Fertittas have done nothing but the best with this organization. I want to finish my career where I started it.
What was your job before you started fighting? Fighting has always been my job
