New season of WEC WreCage premieres tonight

VERSUS, the fastest growing sports cable network in the country and the cable television home of World Extreme Cagefighting® (WEC®), will debut a fourth season of WEC WrekCAGE on Thursday, June 17, at 10 p.m. ET.  The new season kicks-off just days before VERSUS’ third live WEC fight of the year, on Sunday, June 20, which is headlined by a lightweight battle between former weight class champion Jamie Varner and Kamal Shalorus.

NEW YORK, N.Y. (June 15, 2010)—VERSUS, the fastest growing sports cable network in the country and the cable television home of World Extreme Cagefighting® (WEC®), will debut a fourth season of WEC WrekCAGE on Thursday, June 17, at 10 p.m. ET.  The new season kicks-off just days before VERSUS’ third live WEC fight of the year, on Sunday, June 20, which is headlined by a lightweight battle between former weight class champion Jamie Varner and Kamal Shalorus.  The fight will originate from Rexall Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and airs live on VERSUS at 9 p.m. ET. All WEC live events and WrekCAGE episodes are produced and shown in HD where available.

Thursday, June 17 at 10 p.m. ET

Canadian star Mark Hominick battles Bryan Caraway in a fast-paced featherweight bout, while former bantamweight champion Eddie Wineland locks horns with Manny Tapia in an exciting 135-pound contest. Then, in the night’s main event, Coty “Ox” Wheeler takes on Will Campuzano in a “Fight of the Night” from Sacramento, Calif.

Thursday, June 24 at 10 p.m. ET

Two outstanding bantamweight fights lead off the night in the second WrekCAGE episode.  First, Charlie Valencia and Coty “Ox” Wheeler collide in a three-round 135-pound clash, followed by a back-and-forth battle between title contenders Scott Jorgensen and Antonio Banuelos.  Finally, lightweight champion Ben Henderson defends his title against Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone in a rematch of the 2009 Fight of the Year.

Thursday, July 1 at 10 p.m. ET

A night of action starts off with Japanese striking sensation Takeya Mizugaki as he squares off with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu ace Rani Yahya in a bantamweight match. Then, featherweight contenders L.C. Davis and Javier Vazquez collide in an intriguing contest from August 2009. This episode concludes as judo ace Manny Gamburyan looks to take a step toward the featherweight title when he meets former champion Mike Brown.
